Review

With Ian touring again, CBS in Germany decided to release this compilation of Mott the Hoople and Ian Hunter material in 1990. Apart from having a good track selection, there is very little to commend this package - all this material is available on CD in better quality elsewhere.

The sleeve-notes I can't comment on (as I don't speak German), but the sound quality is very poor - the tonal balance is all wrong, it is distorted, the dynamic range is horribly compressed, half the tracks fade out too early - and You Nearly Did Me In starts half-way through the third note (a quite unforgivable mastering error). The cover as well is totally naff - why not a photo to show the casual buyer what Ian looks like?
